Effect

Nourish and protect your lips with this vegan lip balm. It has a pale pinkish hue that will make you positive and happy hours long.

Why did i make it?

Lip balm is something I use daily, and it was important for me to make one that had a slight tint to be fun to wear in the foggy winter mornings. Making it vegan meant finding a substitute for beeswax, and the plant-derived candelilla wax did the job wonderfully! Using Argan oil as the carrier oil in this formula also made me happy, as I use Argan oil for face and hair as well, and it has a very light feel on the skin.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS

CANDELILLA WAX originates from plant

Extracted from the candelilla shrub, this wax can bind oils and waxes, and gives body to a formulation. It is often used as a vegan alternative to the beeswax.

COCONUT OIL originates from plant

With its distinct odor and moisturizing properties, coconut oil is a popular ingredient in skin- and hair care products. It is not recommended to acne-prone skin, as it is considered comedogenic.

COCOA BUTTER originates from plant

With its melting point near body temperature, cocoa butter is often found in lip balms and massage creams. It softens and lubricates the skin. It is also considered comedogenic, and therefore not recommended for acne-prone skin.

ARGAN OIL originates from plant

Obtained from the nut of the Argan tree that grows in Morocco, Argan oil protects and moisturizing the skin.

VITAMIN E originates from plant

Obtained by distillation of vegetable oils, this important anti-oxidant fights free radicals like no other. By protecting against oxidation, it also serves as a natural preservative. It is well absorbed through the skin and is able to enhance blood circulation in it. In addition, it improves the skin's water-binding abilities and reduces water loss.

LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL originates from plant

Credited with many therapeutic properties, lavender oil is an all-purpose oil with a long credit list: anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, anti-bacterial, soothing, balancing and stimulating. It is great for all skin types.

how to mix it

  1. Heat oils and waxes
Use a double boiler: fill 5 cm of water in the saucepan. In the glas cup place together the Candelilla Wax, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter and Argan Oil. Place the cup inside the saucepan and gently heat it until everything melts and combines. Make sure that no water gets into the cup. After it melts, keep on low heat while stirring for about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, but keep the cup in the hot water.
  2. Add vitamin and fragrance
Add the Vitamin E and the Lavender Essential Oil and stir well. If the oils start to harden, heat the water again.
  3. Add color
Add the Colored Mica and stir well for 1-2 minutes, until combined. As before, in case the mix starts to harden, heat the water again. Pour the mix into the tin/lipstick tube and let it cool for 10 minutes. Your vegan lip balm is ready!
